Prof. Seema Malik

Professor, Department of English, Mohanlal Sukhadia University.

Dr. Seema Malik, former Professor and Head, Department of English, Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, is currently Principal Investigator, RUSA Project 2.0, Ministry of Education, New Delhi entitled ‘Folklore of Vagad Region: Mapping Oral Traditions.’ She has rendered her services as Dean, University College of Social Sciences and Humanities, Dean, Postgraduate Studies, and Chairperson, Faculty of Humanities, Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, Rajasthan, India.


She has put in more than thirty-seven years of teaching in higher education and has been at various administrative and academic positions. She has been a member of the apex bodies of the University, like Board of Management, Academic Council etc. and figures on the Panel of Experts of significant National and State Level Academic bodies. Prof Malik is a NAAC Assessor and has visited a number of institutes as a part of the NAAC Peer Team.

Prof. Malik has substantial research experience and has successfully supervised a number of Doctoral theses and M.Phil Dissertations. She has completed two UGC MRP, authored two books and edited one book entitled Ethics and Aesthetics: Essays in Indian Literature. Her book on Partition entitled Partition and Indian Women Novelists foregrounds the gendered perspective of Partition across borders and explores the interstices of history. She has delivered a number of invited talks as UGC Visiting Professor to different Indian Universities and has made presentations in Cordoba, Spain, Melbourne, Australia, Chicago, USA and Colombo, Sri Lanka on diverse topics. She is currently pursuing D.Litt. Her areas of interest are Gender Studies, Partition Literature, Diaspora Studies, Indian Women Playwrights and Nineteenth Century Women’s Autobiographies and Oral Literature. She has recently edited three e-books in English, Hindi, and Rajasthani on Folklore of Vagad and has prepared three documentaries on Vagad in English, Hindi and Vagadi.
