Workshop Overview

The Institute for Academic Excellence (IAE) is dedicated to assisting higher education institutions in enhancing academic quality, achieving accreditation readiness, improving rankings, and attaining institutional excellence. With specialized expertise in NAAC, NBA, NIRF, Outcome-Based Education (OBE), academic audits, and continuous quality improvement, IAE is initiated to organize the National-Level Workshop on NBA Accreditation.

In today’s competitive higher education landscape, NBA accreditation serves as an important benchmark for academic quality, outcome-based education, graduate attributes and continuous improvement in technical and professional education.

This intensive two-day programme will focus on OBE implementation, criterion-wise preparedness, SAR development, CO-PO mapping, attainment analysis, documentation, gap identification and continuous quality improvement. Through expert-led sessions, practical examples, case-based discussions and technology-enabled approaches, participants will gain actionable strategies to strengthen NBA readiness, improve academic processes and confidently navigate the accreditation journey.

Key Technical Sessions

The workshop unfolds across eight structured sessions, moving from the fundamentals of NBA to the practical mechanics of building an accreditation-ready institution.

Overview of NBA — Vision, Mission, and Accreditation Framework

Sets the context for the two days: why NBA accreditation matters for institutional credibility, funding, placements, and global recognition. Covers the structure of the accreditation framework, the Tier system, and how evaluation outcomes translate into institutional benefits.

Understanding the NBA Accreditation Manual (Tier I & Tier II)

A criterion-by-criterion walkthrough of the current manual, highlighting recent revisions, weightages, and the documentation expected under each criterion for both Tier I and Tier II institutions.

Outcome-Based Education (OBE) — Concepts and Implementation

Explains OBE as the foundation of NBA accreditation and walks participants through the formulation of Program Educational Objectives (PEOs), Program Outcomes (POs), Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs), and Course Outcomes (COs), with practical drafting exercises.

CO-PO-PEO Mapping and Articulation Matrix

Demonstrates how to build a defensible articulation matrix linking COs to POs to PEOs, avoiding common mapping errors that assessors frequently flag during peer visits.

Attainment Calculation — Direct and Indirect Assessment

A hands-on session on computing CO/PO attainment using direct assessment (internal marks, university results, rubrics) and indirect assessment (surveys, feedback), including target-setting and gap closure.

Preparation of Self-Assessment Report (SAR) — Documentation & Evidence Compilation

Practical guidance on structuring the SAR criteria-wise, compiling supporting evidence, and avoiding the documentation gaps that most commonly lead to lower scores.

Continuous Improvement Process & Mock Peer Team Visit — Dos and Don’ts

Covers the continuous improvement (CI) loop expected by NBA, followed by a simulated peer-team visit walkthrough — what evaluators probe for, how to present evidence, and how faculty and students should respond during interactions.

Common Mistakes & Pitfalls, followed by Open Forum / Q&A with Experts

A candid review of recurring mistakes institutions make across criteria, and an open floor for participants to raise institution-specific questions directly with the resource persons.
