Prof (Dr) Amit Kauts

Head, Department of Education, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

Prof (Dr) Amit Kauts is Head, Department of Education and had been Dean Faculty of Education, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar for 2008-10 and 2014-2022 and convener of Board of Studies in Education (UG & PG), chairman, Research Degree committee for   2008-10 and thereafter from 2014-2022. 

He is post graduate in Education as well as Geography and Ph.D. in Education. He served as a Teacher Educator and has 28 years experience of teaching in university and college at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. He has teaching experience in area of research methodology, educational evaluation, pedagogy and educational technology. He had served as Principal in Post Graduate college of Education for more than 11 years. His research focuses on educational development, ICT based  pedagogy and various dimensions of Teacher Education.  He has mentored one postdoctoral research sponsored by ICSSR, 8 doctoral researches (10 registered) and has authored and co-authored over 105 research papers, 14 book chapters and authored/ edited two books. He has presented papers and participated in more than 90 conferences and workshops at international and national level. 

He has delivered more than 105 keynote addresses in various seminars and conferences and frequent speaker in various HRDCs of various universities. He has coordinated more than 6 refresher courses and 41 short term courses. He is expert member Board of studies of many universities. He coordinated three UGC and ICSSR sponsored Research Projects on creative management of Teacher education institutions, Life skills among border area students, and employability skills of teachers in india. 

He is also serving for Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India funded project “School of Education' at GNDU under Pandit madan mohan malviya National mission for teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT, MHRD) as Coordinator, which is meant for professional growth of school teachers, college teachers and university teachers and mobilised approximately 9 cr funds from central govt. He is Co coordinator to MHRD for various schemes implemented at GNDU like School of Education, Faculty Development Centre and National Resource centre in Material Science. He is visiting member for NCTE, NAAC, UPSC and UGC assignments in various capacities. He is member of College Development Council, Internal Complaints committee, Disciplinary committee, IQAC of GNDU. 

He worked as Prof Incharge, Central  Library, GNDU Amritsar for six years and contributed to total automation of library. 

Additionally He is working as chairman, recruitment cell of the university.
